Johnson School Professor Appointed to Cornell Strategic Planning Council
Waldman one of eight faculty creating vision for Cornell

October 21, 2009 | Ithaca, NY | Michael Waldman, the Charles H. Dyson Professor of Management and professor of economics, is one of eight faculty members selected by the Cornell University Provost Kent Fuchs to serve on the university's Strategic Planning Advisory Council. Its members will advise the university's president and provost on creating a roadmap for Cornell's future, and will synthesize recommendations gathered from the entire campus community.
Fuchs described the faculty selected as among Cornell's most distinguished, and of being strategic in both their thinking and actions. He has charged the council with creating a clear vision and plan for Cornell's future.
The council members in addition to Waldman are: Lance Collins, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering; Jonathan Culler, '16, professor of English; Sandra Greene, professor of history; Katherine Hajjar, professor of cell and developmental biology (Weill Cornell Medical College); Martha Haynes, Goldwin Smith Professor of Astronomy; and Susan McCouch, professor of plant breeding and genetics. Ed Lawler, Martin P. Catherwood Professor of Industrial and Labor Relations, will chair the council.
The Strategic Planning Advisory Council will make available a draft of the full strategic plan in March 2010, Fuchs said.
