Johnson School Recognized as a CFA Program Partner
October 16, 2007 | Ithaca, NY - The Johnson School at Cornell University is pleased to announce it has been recognized as a CFA Program Partner by CFA Institute. The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program sets a standard for developing the skills, standards, competence, and integrity of financial analysts, portfolio managers, investment advisers, and other investment professionals worldwide. Recognition as a CFA Program Partner signals to potential students, employers, and the marketplace that the Johnson School curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations.
Through this partnership, Johnson School students will obtain access to CFA Institute textbooks, journals, webcasts, and other educational resources. They may apply for a student scholarship to waive the registration fee and a portion of the enrollment fee. Students also benefit from professional development events held in conjunction with CFA Institute member societies, the local membership bodies for CFA Institute candidates, charterholders, and members.
The Johnson School curriculum already covered the topics in the CFA's Candidate Body of Knowledge ®. Through coursework in the MBA core, immersions, and electives, including the Cayuga MBA Fund class, and a three credit CFA review class offered in the spring, students are able to prepare and sit for the CFA Level I, Level II, or Level III examinations.
"The commitment of the Johnson School's Parker Center for Investment Research to graduate education in investment research and asset management is evident in the impressive resources it provides for enrolled students - the $13 million student-managed, faculty-supervised Cayuga MBA Fund, a state-of-the-art trading room, and extensive research opportunities for students and faculty alike," said Bob Johnson, CFA, managing director of the CFA Institute education division. "Its status as a CFA Program Partner institution will be an additional asset to Johnson School students' professional portfolios."
"We are pleased to enter into this partnership with CFA Institute. The CFA designation is highly regarded in the field of investment management and the partnership signals to students pursuing this track that they are getting a rigorous, real-world education at the Johnson School," said Lakshmi Bhojraj, director of the Parker Center for Investment Research at the Johnson School.
