William Weldon to Present Durland Memorial Lecture on November 13
Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson & Johnson to speak on leadership and company values
October 30, 2008 | Ithaca, NY | The Johnson School at Cornell University is pleased to announce that William Weldon, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson & Johnson will present the 2008 Lewis H. Durland Memorial Lecture on November 13 at 4:30 pm in 305 Ives Hall on the Cornell campus. Weldon will discuss his perspective on leadership and maintaining company values through times of opportunity and challenge. A reception will follow beginning at 5:45 pm in Sage Hall's Dyson Atrium.

Mr. Weldon joined Johnson & Johnson in 1971 in the sales and marketing department of its McNeil Pharmaceutical subsidiary. He worked throughout the company in Asia, the United Kingdom, and the United States and assumed his current responsibilities in April, 2002. Previously Mr. Weldon served as Worldwide Chairman, Pharmaceuticals Group, and a Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. He serves on the Board of Directors of JPMorgan Chase & Co. He is also Chairman of the CEO Roundtable on Cancer, Vice Chair of The Business Council and a member of The Sullivan Commission on Diversity in the Health Professions Workforce.
The Durland Lecture Series is the most prestigious invitational speaking event at the Johnson School. Established in 1983, its purpose is to bring distinguished executives from the fields of business, finance and investment management to the Johnson School for a presentation to the students. It was established in memory of Lew Durland, treasurer emeritus of Cornell who served as the university's Chief Financial Officer for more than twenty-five years. Past speakers include Irene Rosenfeld, Chairman and CEO of Kraft Foods; Kenneth Chenault, Chairman and CEO of American Express; Craig Barrett, Chairman and CEO of Intel; Abby Joseph Cohen of Goldman Sachs, and Ann Fudge, CEO of Young & Rubicam Brands.
